Annone Veneto Municipality
Annone Veneto is a municipality of the East Venetian Region, located at the crossroads of three provinces: Venice, Treviso and Pordenone as well as of two regions, Veneto and Friuli.
The municipality stretches from North - West to South-East, for 25 Km, into the southern plain of Veneto and Friuli.
Two main roads define its borders: the Postumia (S.S. n. 53) to the North and the Triestina (S.S. 14) to the South. Both these roads lie on the old Roman Postumia and Annia Roads.
Many rivers flow through the plain , the most important is the Loncon which also marks the eastern boundary of the municipality.
Many of the 3733 inhabitants are found the municipality centre as well as in the smallest hamlets of Loncon, Spadacenta and Giai.
The land, once covered with forests that provided precious wood to the Venetian government, underwent great changes starting from the XIX century. This was due to the cut deforestation which occurred during the First World War, and then during the 1920s when the marsh covering the southern part on the territory was reclaimed.
Nowadays the wine growing has become an activity of the greatest importance in the agricultural landscape. Farmers have privileged this cultivation and have modernized their technologies , as well as their marketing. 800 hectares of land are now assigned to wine growing production. With these figures, Annone is now on the top position in the Venice Province for what concerns the cultivated wine-growing surface. An important network of small and big wine growers cover the land with beautiful vineyards and traditional farmhouses that show a renewed interest for our ancient architectural style.
